Our training program begins when the pup is 7 months old or more and we keep them here for a period of 6 weeks to accomplish the initial (beginning) training. In that first 6 week period your dog receives more obedience training (assuming you will have started your pup on some already), delivery to hand (force-fetching) using the ear-pinch method, evaluating them in the field to find their strong points as well as their weaknesses (i.e.: marking, hunting, desire, etc.), retrieving pigeons and ducks, exposure to gunshot and encouraging basic hunting skills. They are worked on basic field and water retreives.
We take about 15 dogs in for training at a time (there are two of us working the dogs so that breaks down to about 7-8 dogs each) each dog receives individual/personalized training to meet their needs/temperament while maintaining a positive/happy working attitude.
The training fee for this initial 6 week period is $550.00 and we can usually get your dog doing basic retrieves on land and water, hunting in an area to find the bird/bumper, delivering to hand, retrieving birds and being shot over in this 6 weeks.
Depending on how much time you can spend with them reinforcing what they've learned- they can either stay longer or go home and you can work them. Then they can always return for more advanced training or "problem solving"! The training fee for any additional training is $450.00/month.
We usually need confirmation to reserve a space 2-3 months prior to the start of the anticipated training date. There is no deposit required. Just a note to reserve the spot and if you decide not to bring them, just a note to open it up for someone else. |
